Your mind, rather than your raw reflexes, dictates your defenses. You can use this maneuver any time you would be required to make a Dexterity saving throw. Roll an Intelligence (Insight) or Wisdom (Insight) check instead of the Dexterity saving throw and use the result of that check to determine the save's success.
