Eureka Stockade

Eureka Stockade Literomantic Diary

Some journal entries about the Eureka Stockade from the perspective of a literomantic Chiseler.
The literomantic hunts are getting intense, they are actively tracking any sort of literomancy signatures. How they are doing this I do not know, I never paid attention to that sort of thing.
I cannot hide away from civilization in caves for the time being (but oh how much I want to). This should only be a temporary intensity – this level of hunt must cost a large amount of money.
I’ll need to hide in a large population center, being near people (eew) and away from my caves (nooo).

Good news: a large amount of immigrants and travellers are headed towards Australia, more specifically down towards bathurst. ---great for hiding!
Bad news: There is a massive amount of gold and the government is getting a sizeable cut. This will probably mean they can fund the hunt for longer. ---NOT great for hiding!

I HAVE SURVIVED!
I have managed to avoid literomantic detection by acting as a regular gold digger (At least there’s one rock I can spend my time with) Maintaining a steady supply of gold has been hard but my Fancy Rock Radar™ has enabled me to increase my chances of finding deposits without drawing too much literomantic detection.
There were a few times I had to avoid the cops (not entirely sure if they were here for my gold license or my literomancy). It has been incredibly difficult and only a few drops of blood were spilled. I did break a few chisels in the altercations too.

The diggers are freaking out, the gold taxes are too high for the majority, the high ups are really trying to stretch out the hunt for as long as possible with the tax revenue. They probably know at least one literomancer is still around.
One of the miners is acting quite suspicious around me, I think they are an undercover lit-hunter.
Ill have to sus him out.

I was right.
  He is dead.
They sent some people to kill me (probably) by burning the hotel, that failed.
I’m not sure if they know that yet.

The Lads did it!
A bunch of miners decided to hold a rebellion against the taxes and made a big’ol stockade.
It worked as well as you would expect.
If you expected that the army was called in on the rebels and beat them up first thing in the morning.
What it has managed to do however is stop the high taxes and put a damper on the hunt.
And I got though this thing scot-free!
…Although I still need to find a new hiding spot.
