Kind Bear

Kind Bears are a particular brand of teddy bear, and are made the same way any plush toy is made; fake fur, cotton stuffing, and embroidery, with stylized buttons for eyes. Originally they were made with a partially plastic stuffing material, but after a disastrous accident in 1982, a product recall was issued, and all bears since have been made with genuine cotton.

Kind Bears were originally created in the 1980s as one of many marketing initiatives associated with Saturday morning cartoons in North America, which were then linked to collectible toys. For a while, they were an extremely hot ticket item, with stores selling out all over North America and Europe, and children whose parents could not afford Kind Bears were often left out of games that featured them.   Since Prince Galakrond has been heard to refer to Queen Sable Aradia's love-related healing abilities as a "Kind Bear Glare," the toys have benefitted from a resurgeance in popularity. While this in no way equals the intensity of the 1980s fad, they are once again a much-desired item that a wise department store keeps in stock.   A revival of the cartoon, called "The New Kind Bear Adventures," debuted in 2023 on children's television networks.
