Reading Challenge - February 2026

We may use our words to create magic, but books hold a magic all of on their own.
— Imogen

Welcome to the second mini challenge of 2026 .
We're in the second month of the year! Most of us are writers, and one of the best ways to improve our writing is to read. February is the perfect time to escape into a story and ignore the chaos swirling all around us. And sometimes within us. So this February we are diving into the pages of a book.

The Challenge will run February 1-28, 2026.

To Participate

Just read at least once a week. Audiobooks, digital, and graphic novels all count! And it can just be a page or a minute of reading for the week. This challenge is supposed to be very chill. There's no pressure, we are simply here to cheer each other on! Post what you're reading once a week in the #mini-challenges channel on the GoT Discord.

What do I get for participating?

An awesome badge!
(After the challenge, Imogen will post the badge and badge code in the #mini-challenges channel.)

Ideas

Here's some ideas in case you want something a little bit outside of your comfort zone. Or need some low pressure ideas.

Solo
  • Read the book that's been on your TBR the longest.
  • Read a page a day.
  • Try the format that you use the least, audiobook, digital, or print.
  • Go to the library and see what things other than books it offers
  • If you read nonfiction, read fiction. If your a fiction person, try nonfiction!
  • Social
  • Join Imogen in the buddy read book club! We’ll be reading the first Monk and Robot book, one of Imogens favorites. The book is A Psalm for the Wild-built. It’s more of a novella, so super low pressure.
  • @ Mention Imogen in the #mini-challenges channel and let her know you're interested.
  • She'll need your storygraph user name to invite you to the buddy read.
  • Buddy reads are nice because if stuff about page 24 is shared, you don't see those notes until you get to page 24.
  • Tell us about your favorite book.
  • Write a book review and post it.
  • Share your favorite authors with everyone!

Imogen is a big fan of supporting indie bookstores, and all of these are available in the US. Each of the sites bellow send part of their profits to indie bookstores, or partner with them on the regular. While I use Kindle unlimited myself (and no shame if you do), indie bookstores are magic. So here's some alternatives.

  • Swap your Audible to Libro.fm.
  • Bookshop.org does ebooks and print books
  • Join StoryGraph.
  • Do you like graphs? Do you like data about your reading? StoryGraph is a Goodreads alternative that features challenges, reading goals, and all the stats your heart could want. Small company, but they pack a punch.
