House Chiroptera is a Major House. It has been featured in every Game of Tomes event since its inception in November 2020.

  House Chiroptera is a Major House. It is led by the Queen of the Night — TaraFaeBelle after the death of the former monarch Siobhan the Writer. Its base is The Cavern located near Sydney in Australia.  
House Chiroptera's motto is "Type by Night", and as many, although by no means all, of it's members are Werebats they often keep odd hours. This can sometimes make coordinating joint efforts with other Houses a tiny bit more challenging. This was witnessed during the Chiropteran Coffee Creamer Testing when a miscommunication of time led to some arriving an hour early and others an hour late.

  • The Mad Batter, MrBigTAnderson is the Seneschal.
  • Clockwocket is the House Librarian.
  • Queen Tara is guarded by her Knightwings.
  • Sir Von Icicle leads the The Totally Bat Squad.
  • Phyreball leads The Stokers.
  • Clockwocket leads the Battle Logistics And Strategic Tactics (BLAST) Squad.
  • Invalid_Input has a unit of intelligence specialists whose name is Classified.

    • Culture

    House Chiroptera prides itself on providing encouragement both to its members and to anyone who might be in need. They enjoy flights of fancy, and are often mischievous and silly. "But it's more fun to do it this way!" is a perfectly valid reason to do something in a Chiropteran's eyes.

    Huh? That's the best reason!
      Nightwriters encourage themselves and others to be true to themselves, and to be proud of who they are. They value acceptance, not just tolerance, of eccentricities. Although many of the house have wings and can therefore fly, it is not a requirement by any means, and their are ziplines through out the cavern for those who lack the ability to fly between levels and areas.   They also place value on, as their motto implies, writing at night, which sometimes brings members into conflict with the Self Care Mafia.

    History

    Centuries Ago...

    When the House started, we were run by a Council, made of up of various 'creatures of the night' in Ireland. In the 1400s there was a 'Great Wing War' that split the House between winged members and non-winged members. Soon the House went underground and much history was lost. Or was it...?  

    Game of Tomes 2020

    House Chiroptera participated in Game of Tomes 2020. It was the third House to fall to the Undead Horde, with its leader being an unfortunate victim of zombification. The members of House Chiroptera who fell to the Horde were cured of their zombification when House Mollusca claimed the Iron Tome.  

    Tourney of Tales April 2021

    House Chiroptera participated in the Tourney of Tales in April of 2021.

    House Chiroptera participated in the Tourney of Tales in July of 2021.  

    Game of Tomes 2021

    House Chiroptera participated in the Game of Tomes 2021, and ended up forming the Babbit Alliance. It was the fourth House to fall to the Undead Horde. The members of House Chiroptera who fell to the Horde were cured of their zombification when House Lapin claimed the Iron Tome.  

    Tourney of Tales April 2022

    House Chiroptera participated in the Tourney of Tales April 2022.

    House Chiroptera participated in the Tourney of Tales July 2022.  

    Coronation

    September 2022 TaraFaeBelle was coronated Queen of Bats.
      The Cavern moved to Australia at this time. Will the Cavern tell of its tales over the centuries? Or will it keep its sekrets hidden in the walls?  

    Game of Tomes 2022

    House Chiroptera participated in the Games of Tomes 2022. Queen Tara started to explore the newly found Sekret Library hidden in the Cavern walls, only opened by a key passed to her from the previous Queen. While there, she found some books listing the history of Chiroptera, as well as reading aloud the ghost of her ancestor who created the Sekret Library.
      Chiroptera was the second House to fall to the Undead Horde, the Queen being saved by Knightwing MrBigTAnderson's 50k challenge feat, although Knightwing Dhan Llynya was lost to the Horde. After heading to the seas, the Queen & remaining Knightwing MrBigTAnderson were zombified when House Mollusca fell. The members of House Chiroptera who fell to the Horde were cured of their zombification when House Sauropda claimed the Iron Tome.   The portal in Chiroptera was completed at the beginning of 2023.
     

    Tourney of Tales April 2023

    House Chiroptera participated in the April Tourney of Tales 2023. Phyreball, who had been helping the Queen check the growing security systems of the Cavern had risen to a Knightwing after finding a centuries old mechanism in the Cavern walls. Meanwhile the ghost of Queen Tara's ancestor worries over the growing collection of people inside her brain as Queen Tara filks of the origins of the term 'Batshit Crazy'.
     

    Tourney of Tales July 2023

    House Chiroptera participated in the July Tourney of Tales in 2023.  

    Game of Tomes 2023

    House Chiroptera won the Iron Tome at the Battle of Cystal Song in 2023. House Avis supported Chiroptera through the whole war.  

    Tourney of Tales April 2024

    House Chiroptera hosted the Tourney of Tales in April 2024, holding high teas in the gazebos near the gardens.

    House Chirptera participated in the Tourney of Tales in July 2024.
