Video Submission Rules
One of the most fun things we do in Game of Tomes is make videos about our storyline! We also share our filks and other creations. We air these on our Twitch channel and YouTube channels. We love doing it, and we want to encourage you to participate, but over time, we've had to establish some firm rules about how we go about this. Don't be intimidated by the stern language. This is some of the most awesome stuff we do and we want to invite you to come and play! You are welcome to, as long as you respect our project coordinators as your collaborators.
We have been told that our production schedule is literally impossible because we have an amazingly quick turnover with a very small crew. We like doing six impossible things before breakfast! But as a result, we have some health and safety protocols in place for Video Submissions.
Video projects that are part of the official ongoing GoTverse plotline. This includes all special projects that Sable (or one of the other GoT Organizers ) are working into the story.
Video projects that are independently submitted by Tome Knights. These may include independent, fun projects (such as MrBigTAnderson's GoT sports announcement from Season 2,) attempts to introduce new plot elements or subplots to the overall GoT plotline, or filks.
Sable is the Producer and Project Coordinator of the GoT Plotline. All videos that will be part of the Lore are subject to her approval before they will be aired on Game of Tomes streams, or considered part of the official canon of the GoTverse.
If a video is sent back for editing, this may delay its release. So the more time you give Sable to look it over, the more likely you are to get the video aired at the date and time you prefer.
Once a video is submitted, it becomes part of the collective, shared Intellectual Property of the Game of Tomes. You still own the copyright and that can never be taken away, but by submitting it, you agree that it becomes part of the GoT collective content, and may be used by the Game of Tomes as we choose. In essence, you license its use to us. You cannot later change your mind and demand we take it down or not use your idea. This world is created collectively, and it belongs to all Tome Knights collectively.
All GoT videos are released under a Creative Commons, Attribution, Non-Commercial, No Derivatives license. That means that anyone can share our videos at any time, except that they must credit us (with link, please,) they cannot use them for commercial purposes, and they cannot change or alter them in any way. If you want to use our videos for other purposes, message us!
This will ensure that the members of GoT can continue to create wonderful lore and filks as a group and we always have a YouTube channel to share them. We know most of this is already being done. Thank you for that!
Since this is a new set of requirements, expect it to be tuned and updated. We'll do our best to note the changes and keep you informed.

Stock sites have differing attribution requirements.
Canva, Unsplash and Pixabay don't require crediting the specific creators.
For those sites that don't require specific creator attribution, we'll require you to put the name of the site you downloaded the asset from.
Hero Forge images require the disclaimer on the HeroForge Video Credits article.
Wikicommons allows people who upload to pick their license. Please read and understand the terms of what you download from there.
Subscription stock sites such as Freepik, often don't require you to detail the creator for each asset if you have a paid account. But we will need to know whose subscription/license it is under.
Other sites, you'll need to be sure you're familiar with the usage license and that have permission to use them.
The YT crew will be adding the credits to the video descriptions when they are uploaded to YouTube. Please don't expect us to glean the information from your video. We have limited time and getting your video posted to YouTube is what we can handle. Thanks for understanding.
In your scripts and filks documents add a section for credits so you have everything in one place and you can add credits as you go. (If you use Google docs, just add a Credits tab.) Then, you'll be able to simply send the document link to the YT crew for your credits text requirement. This works especially well for group projects.
Include the creator names when you can.
Must be submitted by the deadline established by the primary video editor.
Problems in the submissions may delay the project. Sometimes sound needs to be re-recorded because it didn't turn out. So the more time you give the editor for checks, the better.
Audio should be submitted in mp3 or wav format. Video should be submitted in mp4 or mkv format.
Audio-visual files should be submitted in Google Drive or Discord. If you must submit it through some other file exchange system, it must be a one-click download. We will not sign up for additional services or accounts.
Completed project must be submitted to Sable a minimum of 48 hours before intended air time.
Must be submitted a minimum of 48 hours before intended air time.
Videos that go with a group plot will likely have an earlier deadline and the deadline will be firm. These deadlines will be determined on a case-by-case basis, so watch for announcements.
This applies to both things you come up with on your own, AND things you have been asked to do, and agreed to do, for the purpose of the plot.
Be aware that if you create a plot or even veer from a plot in some manner and it makes it onto a stream, you may be called upon to do additional videos to carry through the new plot or plot twist you have created. Be prepared to do so.
If you fail to get it done on time, it will be YOUR responsibility to come up with some alternative that allows the plot to proceed without completely destroying the story. We will not save a plot because others have failed to carry out their part.

Video Submissions are of two types:
The following rules apply to both types, including filks:

Video Submissions Credits Requirements and Best Practices
In December 2025 the spurious copyright claim debacle caused one of our results stream videos to be removed. So, as of March 2026, we are adding credits requirements for videos so we can more easily refute spurious copyright claims in the future. This will ensure that the members of GoT can continue to create wonderful lore and filks as a group and we always have a YouTube channel to share them. We know most of this is already being done. Thank you for that!

Credits and Attribution should be in one place (such as all at the end). We will need the following as a minimum. In Text Format
Send the same list of credits required for your video to the YT crew (Happy and/or Shy) for the video description. You can just send a link to the document you kept the list in.The YT crew will be adding the credits to the video descriptions when they are uploaded to YouTube. Please don't expect us to glean the information from your video. We have limited time and getting your video posted to YouTube is what we can handle. Thanks for understanding.
Unfortunately, if proper credits are not given in the video AND in text format to the YT crew, we can’t post the video to YT and the lore in it can’t become official GoT canon. Later, if proper credits are given, the situation can be resolved.
