Asteri
A Molluscan Order Dedicated to the Stewardship of Tradition and the Preservation of Power
Empires rise and fall in silence—but the Asteri endure. While Houses sharpen blades and spill ink, we chart constellations of power too vast for them to see. I do not merely serve tradition. I serve what must come next.
Structure
Asteri Prime: Outside of House Mollusca, very few beyond the House leaders know that AngelNDarkness holds this position.
The Ringed Circle: A council of seven elders, each representing one of the 'Rings of Influence': Lore, Flesh, Memory, Blood, Breath, Salt, and Flame.
Sealed Mentors: Mid-tier members tasked with training acolytes, researching ancient knowledge, and preserving sacred rites.
Acolytes: Initiates. They wear circlets made of nacre, and their training can last decades before elevation.
Each rank is denoted by a ring (silver for acolytes, one gold for sealed mentors, two gold for members of the Ringed Circle, and three gold for the Asteri Prime) worn on tentacle-like wrist wraps, though these are concealed in public settings when other Houses will be around.

Culture
The Asteri, like all Molluscans, are deeply insular, built upon an ethos of preservation, silent stewardship, and ritualized secrecy. Members are discouraged from personal ambition and often undergo “unmaking” ceremonies to ensure they can uphold and teach Molluscan traditions. They prize memory, foresight, and continuity over innovation or reform.
They keep alive traditions no longer practiced by most Molluscans, including the Listening Vigils, Salt Rites, and the controversial Ink Sealing—a process believed to bind truths into flesh through rune tattooing.
Few speak above a whisper in the Asteri sanctum. Very little is written down but when it is, it is sealed with a specific ritual so that only the right people can view or listen to the document.

Public Agenda
Let the Houses squabble. We remain the brine in the bloodline. The Asteri actively ensure that Molluscan traditions are not diluted by surface influence or modernity and AngelNDarkness sits on Coral Council advising Anassa JaySeaBoom.
Their stated goals:
- Preserve sacred Molluscan traditions and oral history
- Protect ancestral texts and magical rites from corruption
- Advise Anassa JaySeaBoom on bloodline purity, seasonal migrations, and sacred sites
- Ensure the continued spiritual and cultural identity of Molluscans
History
The Asteri is almost as old as House Mollusca. According to legend, the first Asteri were chosen by the first The Cosmic Kraken, given the task of carrying memory and tradition through the ages.
They are keepers of celestial maps and song-memories, among other important information on Molluscan civilization. They codified the Tide Calendar, brokered the Pearl Compact and guard knowledge.
It is said that no ruler of House Mollusca rises without their subtle blessing. Whispers say the Asteri once ended a civil war by uttering a single forgotten name aloud.
They remain a mystery wrapped in ritual, their true influence hidden beneath veils of salt, ink, and memory.
