Tempest is Fired... Figuratively

It has come to the attention of the collators for this website that this article appears to have been written by Prinx Tempest and may be biased towards their point of view of the fight. We apologize and promise to find other sources of information re: the conflict.

The Conflict

Prelude

The previous winter, Queen Sable Aradia's family was devastated by the loss of six of her children in the Third Word War. While all six were revived, in varying states of needing medical attention, she took the loss of her family very hard and grew very protective of her family, including her sibling, Prinx Tempest Kwake, who was a member of her Owsla.   With the return of Commander DM Stretch during the Battle of Mount Mitchell, Queen Sable reasoned that it was time for Prinx Tempest to step down and assume other royal duties.   Prinx Tempest disagreed.

Deployment

Queen Sable took it upon herself to talk to Prinx Tempest about the dismissal. She didn't want Tempest to feel hurt any more than could be helped, and decided a personal talk would be the best approach.   Prinx Tempest, meanwhile, figured this was coming and was prepared to be as stubborn as their badger-bun blood would let them.

Battlefield

The debate took place in the hallway just outside the kitchens at The Warren, and was overheard by several family members and much of Okanagan City thanks to Foxx lurking nearby with the microphone for the emergency P.A. system for the area.

Conditions

Queen Sable had the upperhand in the debate, given she is the Queen and Tempest was only a Prinx. While Prinx Tempest landed several good points, they were ultimately no match for her political clout.

The Engagement

Queen Sable took Prinx Tempest aside before dinner and told them they were being fired from the Owsla. Prinx Tempest exploded (possibly literally? Maintence reports indicate there weren't scorch marks on that area of the ceiling before this) and the debate ensued. While Sable agreed with the points Prinx Tempest made, she shot down all attempts by the prinx to worm out from being fired.   Prinx Tempest ultimately accepted their fate and resigned themself to protecting Sable as best they could without her knowledge.

Outcome

Tempest was later contracted my Commander DM Stretch and Commander Kitoypoy to be a Sekret Owsla member, protecting Sable from harm in The Void at all costs.   Tempest accepted with glee.
Foxx was paid a visit by the Owsla for broadcasting the argument (as well as singing "Not That Innocent" by Brittany Spears for three hours on the P.A. before that while the Owsla couldn't find them).

Aftermath

Ultimately, Tempest was appointed Seneschal of the Lapin House and given the title "The Rabbit's Paw", answerable only to Queen Sable. Unable, from this position, to rejoin the Owsla, they have resigned themself as much as possible to never returning to their former postition.   Foxx was not cowed by the Owsla for more than about ten minutes, but was embarrassed by the accidental broadcast of their impromptu karaoke. They are now much more careful about which microphones they steal from Tempest.

Historical Significance

Legacy

Tempest is no longer a member of the Owsla and will likely never return to that position.

Nice to catch up on what's been going on in the wonderful world of GoT. Sorry that I haven't had the spoons to be a part of it since last November, but it sounds like you're all having fun and I love that.

Hiya! BTW it didn't get read for some reason (probably because I talk too much) but you received an Honourable Mention for this SummerCamp Military Conflict article! This is what I wrote:

Tempest is Fired... Figuratively by Eli Kwake: This is an excellent example of how the military conflict category can encompass more than just wars and battles. This was, effectively, a family argument... but in monarchies, family arguments have broad-reaching consequences. It includes every element of a successful conflict article, delivered with a healthy dose of humour. Originally, I was going to limit this article to my longlist because, full disclosure, Eli Kwake is a close friend and they are writing in a world I co-own. However, when one of my deputy judges commended this article to my attention independently, with a note that read: "Seriously, this is really good!" I decided my positive feelings were not nepotism and it was unfair to penalize Eli for knowing me. Congratulations!
  Congratulations and well done!
