Game of Tomes: Once More with Filking

27 filks were written for the Game of Tomes, Season 2 (2021). IRL, by popular demand, they have been uploaded to YouTube and an album is forthcoming. We're not charging for this, but if you're inspired to offer a few bucks, we'd be happy to accept your donations at Sable's Ko-fi. Let us know what it's for, because all profits will be donated to Kids Need to Read, a children's literacy charity.

Purpose

Game of Tomes: Once More with Filking is a collection of filked songs that document the events of the Second Word War. They are a legacy of The Filking Plague, which ran rampant through the combatants during the conflict. A broad range of musical styles detail most of the significant events of the War or celebrate (or bemoan) the process of Literomancy.

Document Structure

Clauses

The album, which contains 27 songs, is probably best considered in Acts, marked by the fall of each House:

Act 1 (The Fall of Sauropoda)

Do You Hear the Writers Sing? (Game of Tomes Prelude)
Words of Fire

Act 2 (The Fall of Tiki)

Werd Stealing Spell
Words With You
Bunny VS. Bat (Confrontation)

Act 3 (The Fall of Meles)

Do You Want To Write A Novel
Mother of Bunnies

Act 4 (The Fall of Chiroptera - Rise of the Horde)

My House Has Told Me
Welcome to the New Undead
Badger Tales
Phantom of the Novel
Lord of Windy Willow
You'll Be Dead

Act 5 (The Fall of Mollusca)

Trapped In A Car
The Horde
Bat Queen of Twitch
One Sprint More
Soon May A Coffee Quills Come
No Longer Alive
Zombies

Act 6 (The Battle of the Warren )

Writing a Story
Home Among the Cavern
Author's Night
The Final Word Count
Do You Hear the Writers Sing? (Game of Tomes Anthem)
In Words We Trust
Do You Hear the Writers Sing? Reprise   The increasing number of filks associated with each Act directly documents the progression of the Plague as it ravaged the Tome Knights and Tome Zombies alike. This, in and of itself, may be a point of historical significance.

    Publication Status

The entire album is currently available for public viewing and listening on YouTube.

    Legal status

The legal status of Once More with Filking is somewhat dubious. In most nations, it is clearly parody, and therefore, covered under Fair Use clauses. Some of the recordings are marked as being unsuitable for monetization by YouTube's algorithm. One song, "The Final Word Count," was also muted by Twitch. "My House Has Told Me" and "Soon May a Coffee Quills Come," being a traditional melodies, and "Writing a Story," being an original piece by Eli Kwake, have no restrictions on their copyright status, and most of the songs were recognized as "cover songs" by YouTube, meaning they are subject to a shared monetization model.

And so it begins. Yes, i randomly selected 10 articles to read and get inspired by. This was the 9th one. And i am still laughing... grinning and petting my dog like a madman. If you can read this and watch the videos.... and still have no inspiration.. then you are in the matrix and it is glitched. i love the idea, the execution and sadly the DMCA idiocy to protect something just for $$$ thats said. its a fun thing to read about the Filking and more important... to think about. nice work!
