Benefits

Being Night Monarch can be as much fun as it is hard work. So let us first share the coolest parts.
Night Monarch Benefits
You get to play the “bad guy” and be one of the stars of the upcoming Word War.
You get to be a House Leader for November (alas - just temporary).
You get to see behind the scenes in GoT
Every year after your NM reign, you will have the right to start as undead if you wish.
You get to help the next Night Monarch.
If you want to get to know the community better, and you want to get more involved, this is a great way to do it!
You get to tell the story you want to tell (within guidelines established by the Game Master) - “some provisos, a few quid pro quos”.

Expectations
The villains of GoT have much more to do than just undeath and destruction!
Responsibilities
You’ll work hand in hand with Sable (the Game Master and Production Manager) for lore and game balance.
The Night Monarch is at least in part responsible to help fix what they broke in lore during their reign.
At least in the past, the Night Monarch (NM) was responsible to help with the lore and scripts for their reign (House falls and final/wrapup scripts). Work with your support crew and Sable to set expectations for what you will and will not be managing.
Be helpful and willing to bend as a temporary House Leader. Expect some behind the scenes issues/scuffles. They happen in every group of people. It’s a natural thing. No one sees everything the same way. We try to keep this only behind the scenes so the game and community run smoothly.

undead_hype
Encourage the undead. Your House is the only one set in the rules to be at a disadvantage. No undead horde has won to date. That said, don’t let this discourage you. Winning is possible, even if the odds are against you, but winning is not your job. Trying to win is.
Be at results streams, live if possible. (Camera not required, but encouraged.)
You’ll be committing to much more than just November. It will be from the election up to November, November, December, the time (months) it takes to finish scripts, and the next year to help the next NM.
Time
The Night Monarch tends to spend a ton of time helping to wrangle scripts and lore ideas, prepare for streams, generate energy for the undead House, and help the newly undead transition to being on your team—because it’s not the one they chose, etc.
You will face a tsunami of messages on the server and/or in DMs most days.
Characters and Players
Respect character agency and choice for all Tome Knights and the people who created/run the NPCs. (This will mean a lot of working/checking with people.) If you choose plot actions that will affect character or player agency, work with those players and get permission first.
Powers that affect others will always have to be heavily limited, due to respect for character agency. Lots of discussion is required to make things work.
Be aware there is a section of the GoT populace that does not do well with horror. (Shy being one of them.) It’s okay to tell a horror story if that’s what you want to do, but accept that some people may choose to be less involved if they get squidgy.
Horror isn’t the only thing that might trigger people. Roleplay and lore can get intense. Try to respect the concerns and triggers that other players might have, and work with them cooperatively to overcome them. You might even have to abandon ideas because they make too many people uncomfortable.
