The Current Houses

Major Houses

The Major Houses are the "sides" in the Game of Tomes. All Tome Knights are part of a Major House, part of a Minor Houses that gives their current fealty to a Major House, or are a Mercenary or Dark Knight.

House Chiroptera
Motto: "Type by Night"

Leader: TaraFaeBelle
Totem: Bat

Settlement: Valentia
Base: The Cavern

House Chiroptera's primary advantage is that they are active when other people are not. They are excellent at seeing things from an entirely different point of view. However, like their namesake, they are blinded by bright lights (so they miss the perfectly obvious).

House Lapin
Motto: "Ideas are Coming"

Leader: Sable Aradia
Totem: Rabbit

Base: The Warren
Settlement: N/A

House Lapin is creative, friendly and ubiquitous. But they often get intimidated by large creatures (and tasks). Sometimes they spend so much time socializing that they forget to concentrate on the work at hand. They are masters of procrastination.

House Meles
Motto: "Words By Claw Or Paw"

Totem: Badger

Base: Windy Willows "The Den"
Settlement: N/A

House Meles is known for their fierceness and sheer stubbornness, and also for digging themselves deep (plot) holes. Never bother them while they are working!

House Mollusca
Motto: "What is Fish Shall Never Fry"

Leader: Daciana Wolfkeeper
Totem: Octopus

Settlement: Rizalae
Base: The Zafforza Trench

House Mollusca have their tentacles in everything. They never lack for ideas, and can often fit into very awkward spaces. They are, however, too smart for their own good, and sometimes get bogged down in the details, or with having too many tentacles in too many things.

House Sauropoda
Motto: "Evolve!"

Totem: Dinosaur

Base: The Swamp

House Sauropoda does things at their own pace. Slowly and inexorably, they work towards their goals, and it's almost impossible to stop them once they are in motion. Unfortunately, they can find adapting to new situations... challenging.

Minor Houses

Minor Houses give their allegiance to one of the Major Houses. Which one is decided by the Minor House leader, though most Minor House leaders usually at least ask for their members' opinions. This allegiance last for the duration of a single event in the case of the Tourneys of Tales but may shift each elimination period during the November Game of Tomes events.

House Avis
Motto: "Tiny but Tough"

Leader: EGryph
Totem: Bird

Settlement: The Arctic City
Base: The Snow Castle

House Avis is known for flitting from subject to subject, but also for their quick wit and sheer determination. They tend to approach problems with short bursts of intense, frantic energy.

House Ailurus
Motto: "Open Hearts and Pens"

Leader: Mykola Void, Panda Archon
Totem: Red Panda

Settlement: Penwall
Base: The Treehouse

House Ailurus are deceptively cute and playful, but they can also be fierce. While they prefer to write alone, they are sociable and always ready with a word of encouragement. They are determined to do their best and to help others reach their full potential as well, be that in writing or in life. However, this often leads to them getting overwhelmed.
