The Rave Train

  The Rave Train is a somewhat unlikely signature vehicle that belongs to the Technomancers of House Sauropoda. It is a magical train that lays its own tracks as it travels, allowing it to go anywhere on earth — including underwater. To anyone's knowledge, however, the Rave Train cannot fly. But it can travel over any existing tracks, or take up the tracks it lays behind itself as it goes, assuring that damage to the environment remains minimal for its unusual method of locomotion.   The Rave Train received its name because it is prone to shifting color randomly, although its favorite presentation appears to be in colorful stripes. It is also equipped with internal flashing lights and an absolutely killer sound system, to maximize the effective power of any filkers that might be aboard.  

Development

Development of the Rave Train is intrinsic to the development of two separate developments in Technomancy — Dinotech and Literomantic fuel. It is also partially linked to the development of maglev technology and to Sauropodan beliefs about their dead and funeral customs.   Captain Dazzlinkat, a Mechanomancer, felt that it was disrespectful to continue using fossil fuels, since this represented the remains of Sauropodan dinosaur ancestors. She began to research alternatives, and invested some effort into developing biofuel. When she infused the biofuel she had created with Literomantic Power in an attempt to improve its efficiency, literomantic fuel was born.   It did that, yes, but it also had the side effect of imbuing vehicles it powered with magical powers, and occasionally, a consciousness. Not all of these effects were exactly predictable.   In the meantime, one of The Missing who was likely a Sauropodan had been experimenting with incorporating Dinotech, an ancient nanotechnology, into the frame and mechanisms of a subterranean train that was intended to be used for evacuations from the bunker at Mt. Mitchell. Captain Dazzlinkat fueled up the diesel engine with literomantic fuel to see if they could make it travel faster... and the Rave Train was born.   Although House Sauropoda has neither confirmed nor denied this, it is suspected that the Rave Train has chosen its particular lively coloration and lighting scheme because it likes it.
