Chiroptera Consulate

To access most of the other Consulates, one enters the Warren Public Library, which is accessed directly from the main maglev station where the Cottontail makes its official Warren stop. There are two separate entrances. One descends a long stone staircase; the other provides access to an elevator.   Entering into the library, one is immediately struck by the spectacular glass ceiling. The feeling of being under daylight, however, is an illusion provided by advanced sun lights between the glass and the solid rock that nestles the Warren within.   One descends either elevators or staircases to each of the five floors, all of which are lined ceiling to floor with books. All floors but the bottommost are railed walkways.   One touches pink carpet on the bottom floor, which is also stacked with neatly arranged bookcases. Lamps on top of the bookcases provide additional illumination at this extremely deep level of the Warren.   One then walks through a secondary room on the bottom floor, which holds all the community access features of a modern university library. There are group research tables and a small sound booth.   Large glass doors open out from the library, and there, one finds themself in an incredibly ornate and beautiful hallway, decorated in red stone with brass filigree - or perhaps, it might even be gilding. Directly across from the doors is a large public washroom. To the right, behind another blast door, is the access to the transcontinental portal...   The door directly at the end of the hall, on the left, is the entrance to the Chiropteran Consulate. It features large, double black and red doors in a distinctly gothic style.
Princess Rowean, "Inside the Warren: An Architectural and Tourist's Guide"
The Chiroptera Consulate is an independent structure deep within the bowels of The Warren. The sovereign territory of House Chiroptera, it was built to accommodate House Chiroptera in the event that they should once again end up as refugees of the Lapin Protectorate. In practice, it is occupied for much of the year by diplomats and officials, and Queen TaraFaeBelle, a friend to Queen Sable and her family, visits frequently.
One enters through the doors to find oneself in a massive audience chamber, displaying a similar dark red and black gothic theme. A large gothic throne, flanked by two smaller ones, perch on a dais at the other end of the room.   A door to the right leads down a short staircase into the Chiropteran Consulate library, also in gothic red and black décor. This surprisingly warm space doubles as a place of social gathering, featuring chairs to read in and writing desks.   There is a room through a door off of the library, which leads to an unfinished apartment that is likely intended for the Chiropteran Librarian, and the expansive Royal Bedchamber, which is decorated in truly regal red and black gothic style.   A door to the left, nearer to the rear of the room, leads to the rest Chiropteran apartments. These rooms, for the most part, are simple caves, which the Bats seem to prefer. Cave life grows naturally among the stone walls and stalactites, such as phosphorescent mosses. There are lamps when needed, but mostly, they remain dark. The nursery for the batlings is more of the same, just bigger.   There is a long skylight with a sealed security hatch in the ceiling of the library, obviously intended as an emergency escape hatch.
