NMCF 7 - Campaign Tips
Make the biggest impact for your campaign! (This page is very much a work in progress. We'll keep adding to it as we can.)
In the election, you kind of need to sock people in the face with your campaign (but in a fun way). Your audience shouldn't have to work to get the message. You need to be the one to work to make it easy to understand. The more people have to work to process your message, the less that will stay between their ears and the faster they will walk away. Does that make sense?
So do your best to avoid cramming images full of text. I'd love for people to get the full meaning of your messages and images.
A few sentences at most (like a slogan and a few points)
Visual themes and graphs
A quick info punch that people can process immediately (Try for feelings or something they can identify with. Something that will stick with them.)
Do a video with captions or a slideshow
Do audio if you can. People hearing you will get the vibe of your character more
Even a very simple video with a static image can be very impactful
Articles are also a good way to show a large volume of text
Though for a campaign (IMO) it's not as good a format as video, because it won't reach as many people as something we can easily share on a results stream.
Go for lots of contrast so text is easy to read on the background
Don't put too many aspects on the image. Remember, we are working with a small image.
When deciding if you have too much in your image, zoom WAYYYY out and see if it makes sense when the image is tiny. If not, simplify it.

Graphics Tips
Because not everyone has the same background, I'll share a few thoughts from a design perspective. (It wasn't my college major, but I've been interested in design for many years.)In the election, you kind of need to sock people in the face with your campaign (but in a fun way). Display Notes
The graphics on the election page will be in a small space on the website. I'll put at least 2 across, likely 3. Small text is hard to read. (I'm thinking of those with visual issues and those of us (me) simply getting older. Bifocals can only do so much. lol!) When displayed on the screen for Twitch, the graphics will be even smaller and many people watch from their phones—which only makes the problem worse. So do your best to avoid cramming images full of text.
