Undead Horde Guide
GREETINGS!

Undead Horde by Dani Adventures
Welcome to the Great Library!
I'm Princess ShyRedFox, one of the Great Librarians—the head keepers of Tomeverse lore.
Queen Sable Aradia (my fellow Great Librarian) and I have been doing extensive research on The Undead Horde—what causes the Night Monarch to be the first of the undead each November and if The Iron Tome has anything to do with this transformation.
GET TO KNOW THE UNDEAD HORDE
Glad you found your way here! I'm Queen Sable, the other Great Librarian.
Yeah... the Horde.
Okay... so we don't know why the Undead Horde rises every November. There's some theories... some think the Iron Tome is responsible... others think it's a side effect of the reawakening of magic... some blame The Void, but take it from me, that's got nothing to do with it.
Whatever the case, every year, on Halloween, some Literomancer is driven to steal the Iron Tome, and that person becomes the Night Monarch. There doesn't appear to be any standard process by which that happens, either. The Night Monarch then raises a Horde of undead to attack The Great Houses who protect the Iron Tome. Sadly, this almost always drags the rest of the world into it, too.
(Full event rules are at the Game of Tomes homepage.)
Below is a quick rundown on what we know about the Undead Horde. There are links for continued reading, should you wish to dive deeper. But please be careful... two House Librarians and a bard have now fallen to darkness and become Night Monarchs, and we think this is what they were researching at the time.
Be sure to snag one of the CDs before you go. Despite the Horde being "the bad guys," they have a fan following and quite a few filks have been written about them.
Our House
Shh! It's a secret that characters don't know, but the Night Monarch is actually elected from Tome Knights who are loved and respected among the populace.
That's because playing the bad guy can be hard work, but it's important because that's how we all have fun!

Night Monarchs
A new Night Monarch arises each year to lead the Horde.Librarian - Lore Keeper
None issued. Why would the Horde give warning of their advances?
You might be a House Lord, or a Minor House Leader, but sooner or later, you dance with the Reaper.
You'll be dead, soon you'll see, you'll remember you belong to me... You'll be dead, time will tell... you'll remember when the Houses fell... Word counts rise, Houses fall, we have watched each other through it all... And when push comes to shove, I will send a fully armed Undead Horde to take the Iron Tome...
Bodyguards taste the best.
Tremble in fear, the Nite Qing draws near!
Know that what I chose, I chose for the love of you all. And I don’t regret it.
What was it like to be the Night Monarch? Cold, mostly I was cold but not just physically, emotionally and morally cold too, those centres in my brain or gut or heart just felt numb. It made me angry. That wasn't cold or numb, and the hate was real. I hated everybody, I hated the Self Care Mafia and the Chaos Cartel, Glitter was anathema to me. I could talk about this all day, but those are the highlights. laughs
I just wanted to help people, just wanted to break the cycle. That does not make me a bad person.
Just another friendly reminder that this is a game, and the "bad guys" all do this in good fun. It's important to repeat, because often, they use the names they are known by as streamers. We really don't want anyone confusing the character for the person. We love our past and present Night Monarchs with all our hearts, and are deeply grateful to them. <3
