House Librarian

The House Librarian handles all aspects of lore related to their House in game and for the Game of Tomes site. Game of Tomes has a higher ranked librarian type, the Great Librarians, which oversee and assist the House Librarians.

Lore

A House Librarian is in charge of a Great House's library. They are responsible for the maintenance, cataloguing, restoration, care and protection of a House's libraries, be they Literomantic libraries, university textbooks, or collections of paperback novels. This is obviously a position of great prestige and trust within the Literomantic Great Houses in which knowledge is literally power. Each House has its own way of appointing its House Librarians, but no matter how this is done, this is a position only given to a person thought to be worthy of great responsibility. The House Librarian, considered something akin to a spiritual leader for the House, is also called upon to lead major House events, coronations, marriages, etc.

The Fun of House Lore

Did you know that our great coding mage Satrium is personified as a duck? It's a part of House Sauropoda's lore. What's Avisalia? It's a holiday joint celebrated by House Avis and House Lapin. Have you heard that House Meles has a group of baby badger scouts that are vital to the House's war efforts (and that they can be bribed with donuts)? This is just a taste of what you get to help bring into the wonderful, wacky, and wild world of Game of Tomes!

House Librarian Duties

House Librarians keep up with lore for the game and for their Houses. They help make our lore searchable and keep it organized. They have the privilege and duty to keep pages up to date for their House.

Updating the House lore pages includes:

character entries for their House members
battle and tournament entries on their House pages specifying when their Houses fell or won
locations (cities, bases, portal location, etc.)
units (bodyguards, the sub units like the Owsla Security Squads and the Houndstooth Company, Blandon the Party Turtle)
tech and vehicles (B-52 bomber, chameleon body armor, Cheetya's fighting and flying gizmos, Fluffy)
history
alliances
activities between the Tourneys and Wars
important House information (i.e. King Bob is off searching for Tome leads, Purpleheart is trapped in a book)
mythology and lexicon ("what the coral?" "Frith preserve us" "by the Tome", history of what an Anassa and a Cosmic Kraken are, Rabbits in the Moon)
anything else House related

As a House Librarian you'll need to do your best to

keep House pages updated
encourage your House members to submit lore

House Lore Activities

We'll also encourage you to be active in your House's Lore. When major events happen in your House (coronations, weddings, funerals, etc.), we'd love for you to help do writing (and voice acting if applicable) for any articles and videos created for the events.

House Librarians and House Leaders coordinate with the Great Librarians

House Librarians and House Leaders will be the first line of "defense" for helping to keep lore consistent. If questions arise beyond what you are capable of answering, then please forward them to Sable Aradia - the main keeper of lore.
Battle entries for which Houses won, which fell, where Houses went if a House fell, and which Minor Houses teamed up with which Major House, so the following pages can be up updated. (The same goes for applicable Tourney aspects.)
