Vivimantic Energy

Life begets life. Energy creates energy. It is by spending oneself that one becomes rich.
— Sarah Bernhardt
Life is innately charged with magical energy. The spark that creates life is, by its nature, magical. To Vivimancers, this is the same, essential creative energy that fuels Literomancy, made manifest in the world.
Life is the literomancy of the universe, creating itself.
Like the creative power of Literomancers, this can be harnessed to generate magical effects, or aid in other forms of magic. When used in this way, it can be described as "Vivimantic energy."   Because the power of life energy is intrinsic to the enchantments of Vivimancers, their magic can have "side effects" that help to generate new life, aid in growth and healing, and boost natural fertility.

Manifestation

The Power of Growth

The presence of Vivimantic power helps plants to grow and flourish. Since House Lapin's specialty domain is Vivimancy, plant growth around The Warren is profuse. Trees grow larger than they might otherwise in the local climate and produce more seeds or fruit. Flowers grow thickly and in spectacular variety, and it is almost impossible to keep grass cut to lawn height. Vegetables tend to be larger, and fruits sweeter, than similar food crops grown in the local area.
It took a while for us to be sure it was happening, but there's been some studies and the difference is statistically significant. As if you couldn't see it for yourself! chuckle

Yeah... downside, we can't get the milfoil out of Okanagan Lake, either. But in the balance, I'll take it.
— Queen Sable
This does not include the many efforts Vivimancers have made to consciously improve plant growth and food harvests, which are considerable. This simply appears to be an observable "side effect."   Vivimancers can also harness the energy of growing plants to help boost their literomantic effects. Charging Literomantic Batteries is quicker, and results in less Werds lost in the transfer, if a Vivimancer does this in a garden, farm, orchard, etc. A Vivimancer's literomantic rituals are more effective in such places, and the power of their magic is boosted.
I just do all my magic in the Garden now when I can.

Blessing of Fertility

Living creatures are often more fertile in the presence of Vivimancy. It has not been uncommon for the Lapin royalty to birth or sire many children. Livestock is also more fertile, and they produce healthier offspring. Competition among farmers and ranchers for space near the Warren in Okanagan City is fierce. Even Human fertility might be affected — there has been a statistical uptick in the birth of twins, and a statistical decrease in infertility rates, in Okanagan City in recent years.
Yeah, cows and chickens near the Warren just produce more. The rate's about 150% of everywhere else in close proxmity, and about 125% a couple of miles out. I definitely see the boost in my menagerie!
Sometimes, new forms of life even magically appear in proximity to frequent Vivimantic magic, and animals congregate.
Yeah, you wanna talk about "new creatures?" We've got Dust Bunnies, Putty Buddies, Commants, Void Mimics, those bees House Apis left behind, and a whole colony of Jackalopes. People keep saying they've seen unicorns, but I haven't. I'd believe it, though.

Speaking of, have you seen the new bunny-squirrels yet?

Life Has Power

Vivimancers have found that life energy itself has literomantic power. Often, using animal parts for their symbolism or a magical focus improves effectiveness. Using the blood of a living creature attunes magic to them and, for lack of a better term, "supercharges" magical effects. This is not something that Vivimancers make widely known, because they recognize that this could be easily twisted for sinister ends.
There's no question it helped in The Battle of Sydney Cavern. Probably it explains Kin Beach, too.
— Queen Sable

Life Begets Life

The presence of Vivimantic magic improves healing. For example, Lapins tend to recover more quickly from injuries, and rarely get sick. They also have a tendency to survive injuries that others would not.
Now if the damn allergies that go with it would just go away...
— Princess Sunny
Recovery rates in hospitals in Okanagan City are among the highest in the Lapin Protectorate, but it is difficult to ascertain whether that is a side effect of Vivimantic magic, or simply that it has become the nation's capitol.

Localization

In the past several years, the effects of Vivimantic energy have been most evident in Okanagan City, particularly in proximity to the Warren. It seems likely this is due to the large number of Vivimancers who are stationed there.
