The California Coastal Islands

The islands run in a thin chain along the California coastline.

The climate of the California Coastal Islands is tropical and hot, with significant annual rainfall.

Flora and fauna are much the same as that which appears in the Californian coastal region, featuring large palm trees that dominate the island landscape.

When the geography of the world rearranged itself following The First Word War, some areas made out better than others. While the Eastern Seaboard crashed into the ocean, a new chain of islands appeared off the coast of California. These were spectacular tropical locations, unusual for this region of the world, and they quickly became populated by the flora one would expect in such a location.   Kahuna the Elder happened upon them by accident. Following the war, he decided to take a leave of absence from his job as a news anchor, and took a small houseboat out on the ocean to "get away from it all."   A storm washed him off course, and he found himself on the shore of the largest landmass in the whole island chain.   Fortunately, his equipment and craft survived the storm, although it was damaged, and he was able to radio for rescue. It was the Coast Guard who picked him up that informed him that he had discovered a new island chain, which had literally appeared overnight, and he was thus given the right to name and claim it.   Kahuna realized he was about to achieve his lifelong dream of having his own private Tiki Island to retire to, and that is what he named the island he had found. He created a new Literomantic House and settled in to enjoy a life of luxury and privilege. Which was fortunate, because he was soon fired from his TV anchor job for not showing up to work.   Then The Second Word War broke out. House Tiki, on its little island paradise, and all the Minor Houses that had joined them, found themselves beseiged by The Undead Horde. Their losses were heavy, and they were forced to flee to House Chiroptera, eventually becoming part of the Grand Alliance that won the war and claimed The Iron Tome under Queen Sable Aradia.   Sometime between then and The Third Word War, House Tiki, in its entirety, save Satrium, the Wizard of GoT, simply vanished. When the Lapin Protectorate annexed California and Arizona in late 2022, the California Coastal Islands were part of the annexed territory.   Since then, access to the islands has been closed, at least until Lapin can figure out what happened.
