Memories of Morgan

We have lost a Tome Knight who was a dear friend to us. This page, which is an archive of messages in our Discord, will remain to share our memories of her.   Morgan, known by us as Morgen the Many, passed away unexpectedly from medical complications during the Tourney of Tales July 2026 event.   Quotes are attributed to the characters played by the people who wrote them.
Thank you for starting this channel.   Morgen, or Creative Chaos, was a member of my House and a friend. I remember the first time we were in a voice call together, she asked me if I minded if she played the ukulele because she had just received one as a gift.   Throughout the months after, I got the chance to hear her play more in voice calls. She was excited to learn and show how she was improving. I loved how excited she was about the instrument and music   If anyone else has any other memories of Morgen they would like to share, I would love to hear them.

I had the privilege of calling Morgen a friend and got to know her through the Badger connection to Ailurus, in the Kitsune-gumi, a special RP between our two characters, our shared love for Japan, and through the delightful LitMon art that would land in my DMs. I will always remember her for the joy she brought to everyone and for her kindness and understanding. She will be greatly missed.

I had the chance to to hang with Morgan in the friday night write-ins... will definately miss her voice

Morgen had a mischief streak that I loved and admired. She was a Chaosian (of course). She joked with me about the griefing she'd done on PVP Minecraft servers as we played Minecraft together. (She never did griefing on our server because that wasn't our vibe - hurting people in any way was not something she ever would have done.) She loved professional wrestling because she thought it was ridiculous, and that was something I used to be interested in too, so we laughed about that together a lot.   She remained cheerful, hopeful, and full of life even in her hospital bed. I was also there in that conversation about the ukulele. It made her so happy. I love and admire the way she was able to take such joy in simple things, that's something I try to do and she was good at it.   There was a night I was trying to cheer her up a little, so she, Erin and I went to survival mode on Minecraft and raided the basement under her "cabin in the woods." It was a hell of a good time. She was eagerly learning about the Minecraft magic mods and had made a spell called "Get Wrecked Son". laugh   In other words, she gave me constant joy just by being herself. I wish I'd had the chance to get to know her longer because I feel we were friends and on the way to becoming even better friends. I'm going to miss her terribly, and I'm going to try to carry her light forward in what I do.

Morgen and I really came in together. They supported both mine and my husband's streams and they were always fun to be around. I wish I had had more time with them because they always were such a bright light. The world lost a good one today.

I didn't have many interactions with Morgen, which I am sad about, I would have loved to get to know them more. The ones I remember well is even though they were in pain they joined the VC and wrote words from the hospital. The other was while playing Minecraft they died without setting their spawn, so I went to help them at their cabin to clear the zombies, and found they had a banana tree. (I may have stolen some bananas) I now plan to plant a banana tree on the server in their memory.

Yes, the truest of Tome Knights - "I'm in the hospital and all this crap is happening but I'm gonna write anyway." And damned if she wasn't writing really well, too. Think I'll plant a banana tree, too.

I do believe I'll plant an actual banana tree.

One thing I remember was how much fun they had with making Heroforge's for their character: (images in sidebar)

They made some really awesome newsletters for their TTRPG group. Here it is if you wanna look. It was so impressive to me.

I didn't get a chance to know her well. But what I did get to know was that she was a lovely human being. She made me smile. She came across as someone who had a big heart. She made the world a better place for being in it!

Morgen was a sweetheart. I always enjoyed our interactions on the server.

I didn’t know Morgen very well, we only happened to be in vc or in the GOT lobby chat together a few times by chance. But whenever I saw her interact with anyone in GOT she seemed endlessly kind and encouraging. They truly were part of what makes this community so great and it warms my heart to read about how she made so many people smile.

I didn’t know Morgen for very long in the sense that I haven’t known most people here for very long, but I did spend many hours in vc with her both in and out of Friday Night Write-Ins. Every time we interacted, they truly embodied the spirit of Open Hearts & Pens. She was always sharing drawings or her Minecraft adventures and encouraging others, and the world just seemed kinder while talking to them. I’ll miss Morgen’s light.

Morgen was also excited to be in the back of one of the FireFly videos back in April, and I thought I'd share these screeshots of her "lines"

I didn't get to know Morgen very well, but she was absolutely a light in our community. Encouraging and fun in everything I saw. Her presence here will be missed.

I don't often come to Friday night write-ins, because of my work schedule and another thing I do on Fridays, but one particular Friday night, I was there andI got a chance to be in the call with a bunch of people, including Morgan, and I remember thinking that they were lovely company and I was glad I popped in, even if I wasn't home and my phone battery was dying.   And I thought about how lucky I was to have stumbled into this community, and how nice it was to talk to someone like Morgan. We were talking about different types of food, if I remember correctly. But I guess I won't get the chance again.

Oh I actually remember that night! I couldn’t remember exactly who all was there since I was quite tired and feeling quiet. But I remember listening to you both talking about food and being so happy to listen to two lovely people having a nice chat while I parallel played. It makes me sad but also smile to be reminded that Morgen was a pivotal part of such a nice night.

Me and Morgen came to GOT around the same time. And in those few months I have stories for days. I remember fondly running around undead with her, being chaos gremlins while the leaders of the undead just shook their heads at us. (even if you didn't it felt like it in the best way) The most I talked to her was on Fay's streams. I used to watch a lot during my workdays, the company was nice. But it made Morgen part of my day. I remember buying her breakfast once because the place she was at was being rude as hell. I learned more about her vampire novel, which was a hoot and I'm sad the world will never get to see it.   But despite being in the hospital for so much of the time I knew her, for dealing with issue after issue, the world falling apart and her falling apart. She had joy, light, laughter and of course chaos. She loved writing, video games, and of course her uke. I knew that if Morgen was in a voice chat there would be a 99% chance you'd be hearing her play at least part of the time. Quite playing in the background was just part of what she brought.   Above all that. I remember how badly she wanted to go home. I don't know where we go after this life, but I hope it feels like home.   I also remember how damn proud she was over the flying scroll joke. I had been waiting eagerly to get one when it came event month once again.

I also got a chance to do one rp with Morgan in the post-challenge-week party rp from last tourney, and she was, yeah, chaotic, in the best way.

I didn't know Morgan as well as many of you did, but I'd still like to share something that's on my heart.   Like many of you, I'm saddened by the loss of Morgan, our Creative Chaos. While I didn't know them as closely as many of you did, they were a familiar voice in our Discord chats. They lived up to their name, bringing chaos, humor, and a memorable presence whenever they joined a conversation.   My thoughts are with everyone who called Morgan a close friend, especially House Ailurus.   I know writing may feel impossible right now. If it does, that's okay. Grief doesn't follow deadlines. But if writing helps you process, or if continuing your stories feels like a way to honor Morgan's memory and the creativity that brought us all together, I hope you'll keep writing when you're ready. There is no right or wrong way to grieve.   If you'd rather not be alone, don't forget we have the Quiet Company voice channel. Sometimes it's enough just to share the same space with others, even if no one says a word.   One thing that has helped me over the years is writing a letter to someone you've lost. Write everything you wish you could say. When you're ready, safely burn the letter. For me, I like to think the smoke carries those words beyond us. Whether you see it as symbolic, spiritual, or simply a way to let go, it has brought me peace.   Tonight I'll be lighting a candle in Morgan's memory.   May its flame remind us that even in difficult times, our stories, our friendships, and our kindness can continue to shine.   Be gentle with yourselves, and with one another. We'll carry this together.

Like many of you, a lot of my memories of Morgen was when she was in the vc playing her uke. I especially remember one day when I think it was just the two of us in the chat, and she was asking what new song she should learn. I never have good answers to questions like this, so I just asked her what she most wanted to learn. I wish I remembered what song she chose. I just loved listening to her joy as she dove into learning it. I think that's one of the things I probably have most been carrying with me, since.   Well, that and remembering one of the first rps I did with her. I really meant to only watch, kind of giggling at what her character was doing, but I was invited in. I really enjoyed rping with her. I wish I'd done so more.   I liked to show up when she streamed. The first time, I didn't even realize she knew who I was at that point, but she sounded so pleased that I was there. The games she played always looked so much fun. It probably only happened a handful of times, and I was on lurk much of the time, but I remember going through my day with her voice in my ear.   I have games in my collection that she gifted me. I'm planning to pick a day of the week after the event is done and do live playthroughs of them. I've already been playing the one she said was her favorite, and I can understand why. It's a lot of fun.   The words for any of this haven't been there, but they were a little more accessible today. And... I wasn't quite the friend that many of my Housemates were. That many of the community were. And all the hugs and support to those who were.

I have printed mine using a thermal photo printer, and I am going to burn it so my words can reach her with flames, Would anyone like to join me? I need to figure out a way to do it safely.

I'm sorry y'all. I hate you lost a friend in mischief and other things. I'm sorry for Morgen's family too. It certainly leaves a void. Cheers to Morgen, and may she provide everyone here with a bit of inspiration for their next words. Send 'em a sign now and again, Morgen.

(in reply to DarthTorLin)   I have done this ritual before, and I, too, find it good. I will join you.

Late to the party again, eh?   I tried to write this three times by now, and still I don’t feel as if the 1800 words I have by now are enough to do her justice.   Morgan was just amazing. She jumped into the game and my sketchy fae lore both feet ahead. Every room she joined, she brought in joy and light. Our PMs are full of wild RPs, from heartfelt to silly to borderline insane. No matter which wild idea we discussed in the panda chat, she was one of the first to jump into and add even more glitter and fluff.   Morgan always had time for everybody, and a tiny bit of extra glitz for every occasion. She called me 15 minutes before my big premiere in theatre and played me a song for good luck on her ukulele. She stayed up until the sun rose because “fuck timezones”. Even when she could barely move anymore, she got up to make enchiladas for her partners, or get her family recipe for biscuits and gravy for me because I had no idea what it was.   She also had an impeccable feeling for when people needed help. And she was stubborn like a mule in the best way possible. When I was in a bad place and buried myself in work, she would poke me until I would answer, no mercy. She never gave up, no matter what life threw at her, and always believed in the good in every person she met.   A lot of people here say they wished they had known her better, and I can only add to that, because even though I spent hours and hours with her in VC, I wish it had been more. I wish I could have learned that more from her. To never start giving up, and never give up on starting anew.   I’m gonna miss her so fucking much.

I have one more...   One day in my stream, I was trying to name some cities on my map. Morgen came in and named Nereus Point, which is a port town in my book. While some of my names are s
